Malaysia welcomes the ceasefire in Gaza.
We call on both sides to now stand true to the agreement and ensure that the blockade of Gaza is lifted and there is no further destruction of property or loss of life.
We pay tribute to all parties who helped broker the deal. In particular, we commend Egypt and President Morsi for having shown leadership in sponsoring the ceasefire, as well as President Obama, Secretary of State Clinton and the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
The focus should now be on the broader Middle East peace process, to ensure that the region moves from conflict to stability so that its people have the security and dignity they deserve.
All parties must now redouble their efforts towards brokering a two-state solution, to give Palestinians a hope of a better life and achieve a durable and just peace in the region.
